Welcome

San Diego Decom is the San Diego Burning Man Community's post-Burning Man Decompression event where we celebrate the vibrant creative and communal elements of San Diego and the surrounding areas.

Volunteers are what make this event happen. Participation doesn't begin and end with choosing your most Playa-fabulous outfit. There are many, many opportunties for helping your community. Everything from being a Greeter to an Earth Guardian. Find the spot which is the best fit for you and your gifts under Volunteer Opportunities.

Things Not To Forget
Your PayPal receipt, YOUR ID (muy importante!), enough water and food to sustain yourself for 3 days, SUNSCREEN, BUG SPRAY and SHOES(NOT a barefoot event!).

BUGS!!!!
Ick! Yesterday we were out doing some DPW work and there were all these icky little black flying bugs!!!
So BRING BUG SPRAY!!!

WEATHER OUTLOOK
Forecast says sunny and in the high 80's/low 90's with lows being in the high 40's. It was HOT yesterday and got cool very quickly after dark.

WOOD & FIRES
Please come to Operations in the DPW Camp for more info on wood you can get for free very nearby the site.
DO NOT collect any wood onsite without permission from the DPW first! We are going to try and get wood out to the 3 firepits that have been approved for the ground fires at night. Portable burn pits are allowed and are recommended if you want to have a fire and you are camping in the Sand wash. Low Impact Camping areas are *all fire free* that means no fire pits, no candles, no lanterns that have open flames, tiki torches etc...

BORDER PATROL CHECKPOINTS!
Strongly suggest travel going to Decom via the posted directions(Hwy 8 east to Jacumba exit - see Survival Guide). Any other way, you will have to pass through BP checkpoints. Coming home you just cannot avoid them - they are on Hwy 8(at Pine Valley), 94 & 80 going west.

The Desert View Tower and Boulder Park is another really great place to visit - it is East of the Jacumba exit (past the BP checkpoint) off In-Ko-Pah Park Road. Very cool place to visit with its animals rocks, the historical tower itself with its new "stairway to nowhere"!

PLACES TO STOP ALONG THE WAY
Bathrooms: Alpine gas stations, Buckman Springs Rest Stop, Golden Acorn Casino

GAS: Alpine and GOlden Acorn Casion are your last stops and cheapest alternatives before getting to Jacumba.

GROCERIES/LAST MINUTE STOPS: Alpine is your best bet - you can see the Albertson's off the Alpine Blvd. exit from Hwy 8 going East.STRONGLY SUGGEST you stop in Alpine as the TINY market in Jacumba has VERY LIMITED ability to stock large amounts of anything and last year they ran out of ICE, WATER and some types of cigarettes & beer. We would prefer that you come SELF-SUSTAINED for the 3 day weekend and not rely on the market or the gas stations for supplies unless it is an absolute emergency. Golden Acorn also is a good stop last minute supply stop - their market is quite extensive since it is connected to the casino and is only 20 minutes from the Decom site.

JACUMBA NOTES
If you choose to leave the site to visit the spa, market, casino or Desert View Tower *PLEASE* remember you are going back into public! Get dressed in "regular" clothing, be nice to the neighbors & people in town and be relatively sober! Everyone is really nice however rather conserative in town and nudity/scanty dress and obnoxious behavior doesn't go over very well. *thnx*

LAST MINUTE SALES
Sales go on this year until the gates open at noon on Friday Oct. 16. This week they are $75 for those last minute planners! Entry to the event at the gate will be $100 CASH ONLY until dark on Saturday night.

Do you have an amazing idea for an art project, but need some funding for supplies? Apply for an Art Grant and help be one of the defining experiences that visitors to Dreamland will remember!

If you're new to the Community or want to expand your experience within it, check out all of the crazy, wild and interesting people who are already doing something and who probably wouldn't mind an extra hand in doing it.

If you have any special needs or are handicapped, please let us know by emailing info@sddecom.com. We can help you make the most of your Dreamland Station experience!

Kidsville is now forming!
Kids 6 and under are free! Contact Sizzle for more information! sizzle_burner@yahoo.com

This is a "Bring Your Own Cup" event! Some theme camps are really going green this year and only serving people with their own cups! Bring your favorite cup and a few recyclable ones to share with your friends!

Jacumba Hot Springs Spa has offered all participants a discounted day use fee of only $10 with your wristbands for the weekend of Decom only. They have the hot springs spa, of course, showers, pool, a restaurant & bar and may even have rooms available still if you aren't into camping so much! More info at www.jacumbasprings.com

Please be aware that this is a "Barefoot at Your Own Risk" event! The areas surrounding the TeleMagica Grounds have been used as a trash dump and shooting range for years before the owners took over. There is still alot of glass, metal and junk in the SandWash as well as the low impact camping areas. You can help by grabbing a trash bag and cleaning your camping spot before you even set up as well as leaving it better than when you arrived!

The old wooden trains and areas surrounding them are dangerous! The wood is very old and rotten and the area is littered with old glass, metal and nails. Please do not climb into or onto them! They are very unstable and will be marked with caution tape as a precaution. Please do not take it down.
